Couples Counseling

Our relationships with others can give our lives enormous pain or pleasure, meaning, purpose, feelings of connectedness and safety, but they can also give us intense disappointment. I am familiar with the complex nature of issues that can negatively affect your relationship and have experience in working with couples who feel as though their relationship is in trouble.  If your relationship has been affected by communication issues, unresolvable conflict, infidelity, addiction, abuse or mental health issues, I can help you turn things around in the present for consistent changes in the future and re-establish the closeness you once shared as a couple.

As a Gottman Level II therapist, I’m familiar with the complex nature of issues that can negatively affect your relationship. The Gottman method is a scientifically based marital therapy with assessment techniques that have been cultivated over the last 40 years by Dr. John Gottman. The model is based on identifying a couple's issues and strengths, as well as how to manage conflict effectively and enhance friendship for a more satisfying relationship. With the evidence of empirical research of its effectiveness, you can feel confident that you are receiving a proven therapy that has worked in saving countless relationships.

Couples Workshops

Stay Tuned: Coming Summer 2019

The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work

Based on the Gottman Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work bestseller, this workshop will help couples reconnect and rebuild trust and intimacy. While many couples may get stuck in perpetual conflict and turn away from one another, this program will help couples find their way back through repair, conflict management and creating shared meaning. Couples leave this program with strengthened bonds of friendship and intimacy.

Who is appropriate for The Seven Principles Program:

The Seven Principles Program is appropriate for couples contemplating engagement, pre-marital couples and couples married for decades. It is psycho-educational and is intended for couples who wish to enhance and enrich their relationship.

Who is not appropriate for The Seven Principles Program:

Psycho-educational classes are not appropriate for all couples, including those with severe relationship distress, significant emotional or physical abuse, serious emotional or mental health problems, relationships where one or both partners are actively addicted to drugs or alcohol, and relationships with serious compulsive behavior with gambling, sexual acting out, and other disruptive behaviors. In these situations, couples counseling or individual counseling may be more appropriate.
